Michael Green, LICSW
About me
I worked for over 30 years as a Washington state licensed mental health therapist (LICSW), county mental health manager and founder-director of a tax-exempt non-profit health/mental health organization.
That's way too cold and official, however. By way of introduction, I'll start by saying that I'm what they call a psychodynamically-oriented therapist, which is loopy term for a process that the average dog, since it's always sniffing for buried treasure, can usually do without thinking.
Along those lines, I would remind everyone to do their due diligence before entering therapy. Read up on psychodynamic therapy, for example. There's lots of disagreement, to be sure, but everyone will agree that it's a merging of two Greek words meaning soul (psyche) and power/changing. As part of your due diligence, I suggest that you also read up on cognitive therapy (CT) and dialectic behavioral therapy (DBT), both of which are very popular on these platforms.
Naturally, each therapist will have clients they work well with and others who may not be a good fit. The same is true for clients. In the first couple of sessions, we will talk about that. Not to worry, though. Clients can be matched to other therapists very easily.
I have a ton of experience in individual and couples therapy including therapy involving what they used to call sexual minorities (LGBTQ+); marriage/relationships; health challenges and end of life issues; grief; loss; intimacy; abuse; trauma and gaslighting.
And working through the range of challenges accruing to the "moment" we are living through must not just be included on the list but deserves its own parapraph.
I'm reminded that Bruce Lee told us to be like water, not the best version of ourselves. The latter way of phrasing things treats us as if we were a commodity, a widget or a corporately managed product rollout, which in way too many cases may be true.
Instead of regarding yourself as an object, therefore, you may want to re-calibrate your inner compass so that it points to how much you like yourself. Whether you feel more authentic and comfortable in your own skin. Whether you feel more grounded, whole and balanced. Whether you are more more emotionally available to others, more receptive and open. Whether you feel you are living someone else's narrative or living your own.
I used to have a much longer profile but I've recently shortened it. If you have questions, please bring them to our first session and I'll try to answer them.
My inner therapy dog and I will look forward to meeting you!

Michael has been a great help. He’s a great listener and has helped me with a number of issues ranging from family and personal problems to mental health issues. He turned me on to Lions Mane, and my ADD has never felt more in control.

Michael helped immensely with some questions I had about how to move forward in repairing a relationship with my adult child. He did not tell me what to do, but we worked together to help me consider my actions. He helped me find a path forward. I found his easy-going style great. He emphasized how much she cared about the match.

As someone for whom English is not the first language, I was worried about being fully understood in therapy. But Michael has always made sure I feel comfortable and understood, even when language is a challenge. Michael has been incredibly supportive and attentive, and I’m grateful for his patience and care.
